Help Athletes Focus During Games

In “Sessions with Doc,” Dr. Patrick Cohn answers your sports psychology and mental training questions about focus in competition.

Here’s the question Dr. Cohn answers this week about how to help athletes shift their focus from the stands back to the game.

JOHN ASKS: “My 12 year old son is a hockey goalie for our AAA club in Canada. He seems to get nervous before big games and I asked him what seems to be the issue? He says he loses focus when he sees the coaches and other people watching him from the stands. How can I help him focus on the game instead of who is watching him play?”

Watch the video below to hear what Dr. Cohn has to say to John about how to help her son work on his mental game.
